Job Description:

The Comprehensive Heart Failure Center Würzburg (CHFC) is an Integrated Research and Treatment Center. More than 120 scientists conduct interdisciplinary basic, translational, and clinical research and provide innovative patient care in the field of prevention of heart failure and its medical complications. Within the CHFC the Department of Cardiovascular Imaging develops, deploys, and performs research on a variety of biomedical imaging technologies, in particular ultrahighfield MRI of the heart and organs interacting with the heart. We operate a Siemens Magnetom Terra 7T MRI system, as well as a Bruker Pharmascan 70/16 experimental MRI system. By special organizational measures full translational imaging path, i.e. from mouse over pigs to is available. Further in-house experimental imaging modalities will be small animal PET and SPECT/CT as well as ultrasound. Other clinical imaging modalities are available through close local collaborations with other departments of Würzburg University and University Clinics.

PostDoc or 2 PhD students Preclinical and clinical MRI
with a focus on multinuclear MRI/MRS at 7T

We seek a post-doctoral scientist or a PhD student for development of cutting-edge preclinical and clinical cardiovascular MRI methods. The ideal candidate would be an enthusiastic and collaboration-oriented scientist with an intrinsic scientific motivation. Post-doctoral should have experience in the development of multinuclear MRI methods and applications on Bruker/Siemens 7T MRI systems. Experience with in-vivo studies would be advantageous. The main activities will focus on development, adaptation and testing novel MRI pulse sequences and methods for preclinical multinuclear MRI and clinical cardiac MRI. Moreover, contributions to acquisition of third-party funding, supervision of PhD/MD doctoral students (only as PostDoc), collaboration with other scientists, engineers, and veterinarians will be an important part of the work.

We offer a full-time post-doctoral position or two 50% PhD position with market conform wages (TVL-E13) in a large, multidisciplinary research center in the heart of Europe. The position is immediately available. Payment will be according to individual qualifications and TV-L. Disabled applicants will be considered preferentially in case of equivalent qualifications. Currently, the position is limited until October 2020 for formal reasons. Extension of the position is intended.
