A postdoctoral position in PET/MR imaging methodology is available within the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Technische Universität München. The department conducts cutting-edge clinical and preclinical research and is equipped with a simultaneous whole-body PET/MR system (Siemens Biograph mMR), which provides unprecedented means of assessing simultaneously morphological, functional and molecular information.

The successful candidate will become a member of our multidisciplinary, international team. The appointee will be expected to conduct research focusing on the development of methodology to fully utilize the potential of simultaneousness in hybrid imaging, including optimization of MR data to perform PET attenuation correction and implementation of fast MR acquisition and image reconstruction techniques to perform PET motion correction.

Applicants are required to have a PhD in physics, biomedical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline and demonstrate above-average motivation in scientific research, be able to work independently and goal-oriented and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.  A strong background in MR physics and image processing, as well as excellent programming proficiency (MATLAB, C/C++, etc) is required. Additional experience in PET image reconstruction is a plus.

The post is available immediately. The initial appointment will be for two years with the possibility of extension. Payment is according to tariff (TV-L). We give priority to applicants with a disability and essentially equal qualifications.
